5th April 2014
Our beautiful children’s birthday falls on 10 April, which intentionally was the same as my mother’s. E and I decided to have an early celebration for them over the weekend. Prior to the birthday, I was quite worried about how the day will turn out but thankfully, I can safely say that it was a fabulous day and we enjoyed ourselves thoroughly.
Ryan was trying to dye the red eggs for his and Gillian’s birthday party!
The end product! Chinese culture considers eggs to symbolize birth or a new start. For eggs to be served to guests during an important birthday (such as the first month or first year) is very significant. Hence, we prepared the red eggs for the birthday party!
Birthday badges for Ryan and Gillian.
Baby Gillian in her white birthday dress. As of 5th April 2014, Baby Gillian is able to walk a few steps on her own. Quite a feat considering how E and I did nothing in teaching her any of sort. Being a second born, she is quite an independent and is quite strong willed. Lately, we have noticed that her demeanor has changed quite abit. She is starting to be rather cheeky girl and often likes to do things that she is told not to. Like eating random objects despite telling her not to. And biting me despite telling her not to. The most endearing part of her is that she has this most amazing smile that will melt all hearts.
Ryan, playing with his toy cars. As of 5th April 2014, his disposition is much better than before. He does throw some tantrums but he is getting much more manageable. He is very inquisitive(constantly asking the 5W1H), Surprisingly, he knows what are the right things to say to make E and me less angry. Like, ” I am sorry, Mummy/ Dad Dad. You are not angry with me right? I am not angry with you.” He loves his spelling and phonics and has been asking us on how to spell various objects that we see in our daily lives. It is so wonderful to see his progress and his love for learning.
The decor and food for the party!
Party signage on our front door.
Party banner and photos of Baby Gillian.
We decided to put only Baby Gillian’s photos as it is her first year bash and we wanted to show pictures of her monthly milestones.
Spring is almost here and to spruce up the place abit, we decided to buy some cheery looking flowers from Waitrose.
The birthday party entertainment and the goodie bags!
The fabulous people who took time off their Saturday to spend time with out family. Thank God for these people who bring such joy into our lives in London.
Me and my lovely angels. 🙂 I think I have said this time before, but I will say it again. I am so blessed to be a SAHM, to be able to take care of these two babies 24/7.

Not perfect as the kids were so fidgety.
But just as beautiful. In my eyes, at least.

The Number 1 for Baby Gillian
Zhua Zhou(抓周) Session
Zhuo Zhou [which literally translates to “pick” and “anniversary”] is an activity held on a child’s first birthday. In the session, objects are placed on a tray and the object a child picks can indicate his or her future career and personality traits. For Baby Gillian’s Zhua Zhou, the items we selected for her were law book(lawyer), stethoscope(doctor), calculator(accountant), cash(businesswoman) LV bag(tai-tai), Nexus(technopreneur) and pen(scholar). Baby Gillian chose the Nexus first followed by the stethoscope. As her mother, I very much prefer her to be a doctor. Heehee. That is such a noble ambition!
Doctor Gillian, definitely one of the prettiest in medical school.
The Amazing Bubble Machine that entertained the children!
Party ended around 4ish and we headed to Greenwich Park with the Tans for a short walk.
Presents Opening Ceremony
These pictures are just from my camera. I will be updating this post with more photos from my friend’s camera as well.
It was a fantastic party and what is even more amazing was the company of all the good people who took time off and came to celebrate this special day with our family. We are new to this place but so far, I have experienced mostly kindness from everyone. Thank God!
I am so thankful to my Lao Gong for planning and preparing almost 70% of the party. He is just nice like that. So, props to him and I love you! xxx Being able to be the mother of these two lovely children, Ryan and Gillian is not an easy job but it is definitely something very fulfilling and I won’t change one bit of my life for them.
Life is good.
